The Launch Night

That was the way the press release before the launch party for one of the most unusual books London has ever seen, THE X DIRECTORY . Journalists were so perplexed by it that some wrote that the whole thing was a clever ‘stunt’ perpetrated by students of the Royal College Of Art! In the light of what happened at the press launch, one might have forgiven for their conclusion.

First of all, four television crews arrived at the Irdialani Gallery , the scene of the Launch. Then, as the night progressed, 30 photographers from all over the world arrived. They came from Germany, Holland Israel, the USA, Italy, and the tabloid scum form UK as well as the ‘quality’ papers. At this point, the Gallery was packed. Then, the Prostitutes arrived. Some of them had been invited, but that did not account for the number there. This sent the photographers and hacks into a stir.

The stir that was to come however made even the Gallery owners blanch; a fully clad Dominatrix arrived next, wasting no time in grabbing the nearest unsuspecting male for an impromptu session of degradation. This is when the hacks began to sweat. Madam Chrissie (as she demanded to be called) forced men to kneel before her, whipped their buttocks with a cat-o-nine tails, and humiliated others in front if a slew of international photographers. Everyone was looking a little shocked whilst this was going on, but that was nothing compared to what happened next.

A man, dressed in what can only be described as a ‘Cinderella dress’, with a long leather bag over his shoulder, pulled up a stool and sat in the middle of the floor in the gallery. He was 6 foot tall, had a blond wig on his head and had motorcycle boots on. Out of his leather bag, he calmly pulled out a gas powered chainsaw, which he pull-started creating an incredible racket in the confined space of the overcrowded Gallery. He proceeded to rev up the chainsaw, and then began cutting into the walls of the gallery! Everyone was agape. The cameras went berserk, and the gallery staff looked on in stiffened horror.

This has got to be the most incredible book launch EVER in the history of UK publishing! We never found out who the Chainsaw-Cinderella was........
